Arjuna Herath recently retired from Ernst & Young (EY) as a Senior Partner and Head of Consulting for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Before his tenure at EY, he held key positions, including Marketing Development Manager at Ceylon Tobacco Company and Director of Corporate Finance at Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka. Arjuna has been a significant figure in Sri Lanka’s financial sector throughout his career. He served as a Board Member of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board, a Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, and a member of the Company Law Advisory Commission. Currently, he is a Director of the Colombo Stock Exchange and holds directorships in several other publicly listed and private companies. A distinguished Chartered Accountant, Arjuna is a Past President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He has also made his mark internationally, serving as Past President of the South Asian Federation of Accountants and as a Board Member of the Confederation of Asia Pacific Accountants. Notably, he was the first Sri Lankan to chair a committee of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), where he led the Professional Accountancy Organization Development Committee. Arjuna holds fellow membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colombo, an MBA from the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom, and a Master of Arts in Financial Economics from the University of Colombo.
